The story is told of Mr Joseph Robinson, an employee of the Limerick and Waterford Railway Company and his meeting with Mr Gladstone who was Chancellor of the Exchequer of Great Britain and Ireland (1852-1855). The meeting was to secure a loan for the completion of the railway. After the business was concluded, Mr Robinson stepped forward and asked Mr Gladstone if he would accept a tract, offering him one entitled:

I once was a solid part of a mountain side,
Then rough men came with picks; excavated and pried.
They parted me from neighbouring, ancestral rock,
Rolled me down the steep descent, an unwieldy block.

A MESSAGE SENT AND NOT RECEIVED

This is a tragic story of a vital communication not being received by the person to whom it was sent, and it reminds us of the message of Salvation offered to all of mankind by Jesus Christ, and not being received by the people it was aimed at. Since Biblical times, God has pleaded with mankind to obey His commands and in modern times that message has not changed.

Mark Twain once said: “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes.” The only problem with that statement is that Mark Twain never uttered those words! In fact, it was one of the world’s greatest preachers Charles Haddon Spurgeon who said it. But if we are going to be completely truthful, the original sentiment came from Jonathan Swift, who wrote in 1710 that Falsehood flies, and the truth comes limping after it. There is no doubt whatsoever that we are living in an era where ‘alternative facts’ are now common. It’s like we are all living in a post truth age where misrepresentation of the truth has become the new normal, leaving many bewildered. SHOPPING/THE NEW RELIGION
An interesting survey taken by a journalist was to gauge how many people attended church during the Easter break and his findings are very telling because even though about 60% of the British population agree with the statement that we are a Christian country, their actions do not support their belief, because church attendance during this time of worship was down by 70%, indicating that for most of us Christianity is little more than an occasion for hatches, matches and dispatches with shopping, rather than going to Church, taking over as the new religion.

(Isaiah 55: 6) This verse of Scripture should be very worrying to those who do not know the Lord as Saviour or are thinking of turning to Him later on in life: When the time is right as so many utter. O how I would love you to see, my dear friend, it is not the difficulty or the dimension of your problems that matters; what matters is: WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT? Like the woman in the crowd who crawled on the ground pushing her way between all the legs that hindered her until at last she could touch the hem of His garment. Good morning Jon,
Thank you for updating me on the whereabouts of the tracts. I look forward to receiving them. I was so glad to come across your web site. I needed tracts that were specific to the different events in Jesus’ life that would show people who He was and what these events meant for Him and for us. Most holiday tracts are very broad and generic.
For example, I could not find a tract about His ascension. I finally did find one that spoke of it and where He is now and what He is doing, but it is in the body of the text among many other facts and the cover does not draw attention to the event. I found one tract about the Triumphal Entry. It was very superficial. I wanted a tract the showed how the very day of His entry had been prophesied, both day (Daniel,) His reception (Zechariah,) and mode of transportation (Zechariah.) I also wanted to show that He is the King through the same verse in Zechariah. I was going to settle on this tract because it at least told the story of His entry into Jerusalem, but it was from the Lutheran Tract Society in Australia and when we tried to order it, we found that they only ship to Australia and New Zealand.
I am grateful for your prayers and interest in KBC. I have added you to our Kids Beach Club prayer support group. We call them Life Guards. Everything has to sound beach related in this club. The reason is that the government has made it illegal to advertise an after school club by using “religious expressions.” Like all things with God’s hand, even this ugly law works for the good of the club. It has given us a really fun theme to wrap parties and activities around. We have Surf Teams which are small discipleship groups. We “surf” the Scripture as we learn how to navigate our Bibles and learn from God’s Word.
The KBC that I work with this year is very small, fifteen kids. We started with five. The five were a gift from God since we are not aloud to advertise or solicit students within the school system. We had permission to form a club at this school, but no one knew we were there. The growth has also been only from God’s hands for the same
reason.
Not all school districts are this strict in interpreting this law. In years past, we have planted KBCs in schools that were welcoming and even helpful. We began with many students because we were allowed to advertise the club and set up a Beach Club table at school events.
I am about to write the weekly updates and prayer request email so you will be receiving that today too, Lord willing. I am going to share some wonderful news.

I received the books from Mrs Ross. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to you both and what it feels like to finally see the stories in print. The Lord indeed works in mysterious ways. I always longed to see them in a book form and God blessed me through you both. My Kids are overwhelmed and so proud of their Dad.
