This volume was written by Neville Holmes who was a missionay with the Middle East Christian Outreach in the Arab world. He has retired and now lives with his wife Noreen in Cape Town, South Africa. Whilst living in Lebanon and learning the culture and language he came to understand the Bible and especially the Parables in the light of the Middle East culture. Taking every possible opportunity to preach, it prompted many who heard his teachings, to express their desire for a layman’s book on the Parables as seen through the eyes of that culture.
This book is intended to cater for that need and it is the desire of the author that it be a blessing to all who read it.

I read different copies of mine you have produced. I do so with gratitude,you have always done so well. Tomorrow we will return to the specialist for Noreen’s second course of injections in her one eye. Then we will visit old friends who have invited us for tea. We will give them copies of books of ours you sent us. I am speaking on Sunday at a retirement place on Matt 19/20. The rich man who wanted to know what t o do to have eternal life. When Jesus told him to sell & give away all he had to follow, he turned away in sorrow.
Jesus was telling him to give away what he could not keep to gain what he could not lose. It was the year AD 32 & 38 years later all would be lost through the Roman conquest of the area in AD 70. We lose what on ourselves we spend, we have as treasure without end whatever Lord to Thee we lend who gives us all.
Something to pass on to rich widows who have not yet discovered the truth that Jim Eliot stated. He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.
So I state again that I am grateful to you Jon & Marcy for your productions of the material we have sent. Whenever I read it, I can only say the Lord has enabled you to do well.
One we lent a copy you produced of The Father Ran, kept it so long I told him to keep it. It gives me pleasure to give to others.
We had thunder last night & rain. A cooler night for sleeping. Good to hear Billy Graham preaching. His message over so many years never changed. But as in my case the follow up work after he preached caused many to fall away.
If God has done a work, He will make sure it will achieve what He has planned.
