HE BORE THE CURSE

Psalm 1:1

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. KJV

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers. NIV

Here is the Man of Psalm 1:

  • He walked not in the counsel of the ungodly:
  • So the ungodly took counsel against Him to put Him to death.
  • He stood not in the way of sinners:
  • So the sinners said: “Away with Him, crucify Him.”
  • He sat not in the seat of the scoffers:
  • So they passed by, scoffed at Him.

GETHSEMANE became the PLACE OF THE CUP

Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. KJV

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned. NIV

  • In Eden the First Adam by disobedience and eating the fruit, brought the curse on all men.
  • In Gethsemane the Last Adam by obedience and drinking of the cup, brought blessing for all men.

GABBATHA became the PLACE OF THE CROWN

John 19:2

And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe. KJV

The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head. They clothed Him in a purple robe. NIV

Genesis 3:17-18

And unto Adam He said, “Because thou hast harkened unto the voice of thy wife and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying ‘Thou shall not eat of it’: Cursed is the ground for thy sake…” KJV

To Adam He said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ Cursed is the ground because of you. It will produce thorns and thistles for you …” NIV

GOLGOTHA became the PLACE OF THE CROSS

Galatians 3:13

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, “Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.” KJV

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” NIV

Jesus became a curse for us and shed His precious blood for us so that we might live. He truly has paid the price and has liberated us, so let us live in the Spirit and walk in the Spirit.
