FRAGMENTS FROM THE MASTER’S TABLE

THINK ON THESE THINGS

Isaiah 55:6-8 – Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways”, saith the Lord. KJV

The destruction Israel knew in A.D.70 will be repeated before the Lord returns in Glory. In one of the great ironies of history: The Man of Sin will seek to destroy the people who sought to destroy The Man of Sorrows.

They will cry out for their Messiah to come and save them; and He will appear with the marks they gave Him. The marks in His hands and His feet, and they will realise that all their miseries were brought on them by their own evil hearts, and the whole nation will mourn and wail together.

What has happened, is happening, and will happen to Israel is a picture of what is happening to all of mankind. Our miseries are self-inflicted, because we would rather ignore the King of Kings and go our own way.

We have turned our backs on the Saviour. Our sins nailed Him to a cross of shame, and we have walked away and left Him.

And yet He still calls us! Seek Me while you can.
There is coming a day when this call will be no more.

Luke 19:41-44 As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.” NIV

The Lord visited that city offering Salvation and they chose to reject Him, because they did not want Him. There was another who would visit the city in the form of a Roman General, who would give them no choice at all!

There is a secret of His tears and we would do well to sit at His feet until we learn it! Calamity awaits those who have no room for Him in their scheme of things.

THINK ON THESE THINGS

Isaiah 55:6-8

Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways”, saith the Lord. KJV

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. NIV

Because there is coming a day when this call will be no more.

Luke 19:41-44

And when He was come near, He beheld the city and wept over it, Saying, “If thou hadst known even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” KJV

As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.
