LEARNING OUR ABC

Have you ever thought about the fact that it is because we were taught our ABCs that we can write and communicate with others? Can you imagine what life would be like if we had no knowledge of the alphabet? Equally so, can you imagine what life would be like in eternity if we failed to learn the ABC of Salvation? To answer that we turn to the Scriptures:

A

Romans 3:23

All have sinned, and come short of the Glory of God. KJV

All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. NIV

B

Acts 16:31

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and thou shalt be saved. KJV

Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. NIV

C

Romans 10:9

Confess with thy mouth “the Lord Jesus,” and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. KJV

Declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. NIV

The way to Salvation is as simple as ABC. God tells us in His Word that He has used the simple things in life to show us the way to eternal life with Him, and unless we are willing to follow these simple steps, we will miss the mark. We had to learn the alphabet to enable us to string letters together to form words so that we could compile sentences and thereby communicate with others, likewise, God has used the alphabet to tell us that He loved us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to die for us that we might have eternal life with Him. He also used the alphabet to warn us that Jesus is the only way, and that all who ignore this message, will spend eternity without Him.

Matthew 11:28-29

Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls. KJV

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. NIV

It is worth making a note of what these verses promise:

·     You come. ·     I give. ·     You take.
·     You learn. ·     You find.

What a wonderful God we have, not only does He provide a way back to Him through the sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross of Calvary, He goes even further and pleads with us

  • to come to Him,
  • to take His yoke,
  • to learn about Him, and on top of that He promises that we will
  • find rest for our souls!
