EXCUSES

Any excuse can keep you out of Heaven, but NO excuse will ever get you IN.
Only deep seated, heart-felt repentance will get you into Heaven.

An Invitation to Come.  An Intention to Come. An Inability to Come.

Titus 3:3-7
For we ourselves were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour. That being justified by His Grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. KJV
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. NIV

What are the excuses?

Luke 14:18-20
And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto Him, “I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray Thee have me excused.” And another said, “I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray Thee have me excused.” And another said, “I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.” KJV
But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, “I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.” Another said, “I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.” Still another said, “I just got married, so I can’t come.” NIV
  • There is an invitation to come to the Saviour but so many ignore it, preferring to carry on living as they do.
  • There are so many who intend to respond, but only when they want to in their own time.
  • There are so many who feel incapable of making a decision and feign helplessness when faced with making it.
  • None of the invited guests wanted to attend the feast, which is a lot like today, when the invitation to come to Christ is ignored, mocked and ridiculed.
  • The feast has been Despised when it should have been Desired and there is coming a time when it will be Denied.

What excuse do you have for not coming to the Saviour?
