THINK ON THESE THINGS

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth. And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Genesis 1:14-19

In v14  we are told by God that the great lights are also to be signs. The lights are the sun, the moon and the stars. Note the 4 things mentioned in this verse – signs, seasons, days and years.

God gave Noah a sign – a rainbow.

Seasons – there are four, and there are also the festive seasons to celebrate God’s mercy, truth and redemption.

However what God has given as a sign has become a stumbling block to millions because they worship the stars, and we must be warned that God answers idolatry only with judgment. God’s power and presence are everywhere and the proof of that is all around us.

If we see a house we know there is a builder. If we see a motor car we know there is an engineer. If we see a garden we know there is a gardener. But it takes superstition to worship a dead object.

Faith demands obedience!

If there is no obedience there is no faith.

The days of Creation 

1. First Day: Light is separated from darkness.

2. Second Day: The waters are separated.

3. Third Day:  The earth and sea separated.

4. Fourth Day: The light bearers are appointed (sun, moon, stars)
