THE DECEPTION

Galatians 6:7-10

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. KJV

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. NIV

Whether you believe it or not, or whether you think it or not, the Bible tells us that our present conduct will have future consequences. We read and hear of so many who think that how they behave now will have no effect on them in the future.
This is the great deception.

Our Scripture divides man into two types:

  1. The man that sows to his flesh will reap corruption.
  2. The man who sows to the Spirit will reap life everlasting.

Those who sow trouble and plough sin will reap the same, and those who sow the wind will reap the whirlwind.

Romans 1:18-20

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. KJV

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. NIV

In these verses we are told that the deception continues and visits those who, in their own wisdom, think that chance and not creation is behind all that is seen, with the pronouncement that they are without excuse! and will be held accountable for their unbelief.

There are even those who are deceived into thinking that truth is the outcome of human wisdom instead of Divine Revelation.

1 Corinthians 1:18-19

For the message of the Cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to those who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” KJV

For the message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” NIV

The Scriptures we are looking at today have a bold and serious warning that God will not be mocked. The world is full of those who think they can make it without the Creator and carry on living for self and do as they please. Well they are in for a huge shock, because time is fast approaching when God will call time-out and bring an end to the great deception. They also remind us that for the believer there are two ways in which eternal life (or everlasting life) is used in the Bible:

  1. It is the present possession of every believer.
  2. It is that which every believer receives at the end of his/her life here on earth.

As John Wesley once said: Do all the good that you can, in all the ways you can, to all the people you can, for as long as you can.

May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

The article I read was the “Padkos” daily reading. I will browse the site a little more and will give you some more feedback. You know how it is at work…. Only when I get some free time I will be able to look at the site. Please relay to your husband and tell him that a young lady all of the way in Houston (a Trinidadian living in Houston to be exact), has been tremendously blessed by his writings and also tell him that nothing that he does for the Lord is ever done in vain. Tell him to keep writing from his heart as he is touching someone somewhere who needs to have a bit of hope. Gods word is honourable and God honours his word…. He will give us our reward in due season. Marcy believe me when I tell you … I have experienced the rewards of the Lord on my life resulting from waiting, being faithful and remaining steadfast and unmoveable in the Lord and the faith.

God Bless you and Your husband greatly.

    Regards – Sharon
