WORSHIP –
HOW SHOULD WE WORSHIP?

John 3:30

He must increase, but I must decrease. KJV

He must become greater; I must become less. NIV

In just seven words, John gives us the answer to our question. Let’s face facts, up until the time we accepted Christ as our Saviour and invited Him into our lives to take up residence, we had it all our own way where I was first and Me was second, and even if the two got mixed up, I always won because we are one and the same. For so long we have put ourselves first and foremost, and now there must be a complete reversal of roles where Jesus must come first.

HE MUST INCREASE. I must decrease.

John 4:24

God is a spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. KJV

God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. NIV

Just as the wise men who came from the east asked:

Matthew 2:2

Where is He that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him. KJV

Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews? We saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him. NIV

  • We must do likewise.
  • We are to seek Him and Him alone, forsaking all others.
  • We must find Him and Him alone.
  • When we have found Him, we are to worship Him and Him alone.

The wise men bowed before a Babe, a young child who was so little and yet in their eyes, He was so big. They who were of note saw themselves as nothing. They were not ashamed to come low that He might be raised high – they were wise men; they carried the same attitude that John the forerunner had:  He must increase but I must decrease.

An act that has been left shining in golden letters for all to see and for all to follow who would say:  WE HAVE COME TO WORSHIP HIM!

Q1: Whom should we worship? We must come to worship Him.
Q2: Why should we worship? Because we love Him.
Q3: How should we worship? With humility and love.
