YOU HAVE HAD YOUR WAY!
(Part One)

John 8:12 |
|
|
Then spake Jesus again unto them saying, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” KJV |
When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” NIV |
|
John 14:6 |
|
|
Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh to the Father but by Me.” KJV |
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” NIV |
It goes without saying that we cannot see without light and unless we are illuminated regarding the things of God, we will not receive them, because without the illumination of the Word of God, we cannot see the way. We get our illumination from the Bible.
Someone once said: It is amazing how much light the Bible sheds on Bible Commentaries, when they were written to shed light on the Bible.
This will be true of those who spend much time with the Scriptures, rather than attend Bible Colleges and Bible Schools to hear what someone else has to say about the Bible, because this, unfortunately, is where we are going to get an awful amount of darkness coming in where there should be light. Only by feeding and reading and dwelling in the presence of the Lord with His Word will you and I ever be illumined and only by drawing from God the truth first-hand not second and third hand.
If we are to walk in the light and get strength and sight to see, we must dwell in the Word of God. It means sacrifice, it means putting aside other things. Seeing with His eye and hearing with His ear should cause us to realise that we need to take in what we should give out, and if our eye is looking elsewhere, we cannot do this. If our ear hears what it should not, we cannot give out what we should have taken in. We are receptacles, we have to receive, and to live a life that is pleasing to God; therefore, we must receive from Him alone. If we receive from the world then we will be worldly but if we receive from God, we will be Godly.
The measure of what we receive will be the sum of what we are. God says to us: I want you to see Jesus when you come to the Word of God, I want you to Stand, Look, Ask and Find and if you do all these things I WILL open your understanding. How wonderful is that!

Jeremiah 6:16 |
|
|
Thus saith the Lord, “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” But they say, “We will NOT walk therein.” KJV |
This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” But you said, “We will NOT walk in it.” NIV |
One of the tragedies of today is that young people do not have the ability to assess right from wrong. They cannot take in the answers that they are given and are taught to question everything. This results in no firm conclusion being reached at all. So right from a young age they do not ask for the eternal paths or look for the old ways in which to walk. To them everything is and should be new, out with the old and in with the latest gadget. They have no time for anything older than last month!
They amuse themselves instead of musing about where and how to walk and lamentably so, there is NO REST for their souls. Their parents have allowed this to happen, they have not taken charge, as they should have and have given away their responsibility of raising their offspring in the fear of the Lord by handing them over to educational authorities who have little or no spiritual discernment, nor do they want it.
God tells us in His Word that when you ask for the eternal paths, you need to know that they came from the One who is eternal, and when you find them, you must walk in them, and when you do that you will find rest for your souls.
There is a search that must be made. Then there is a finding. Everybody seeks for rest for the soul, but we must remember that God says we are in a separator – light from darkness.
In the beginning, God separated light from darkness, and day from night.
All Christians are called children of the day, children of the light.
Ask yourself if you are a child of the night or a child of the day.
