FAITH
|
Hebrews 11:6 |
|
|
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. KJV |
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. NIV |
Faith is the only thing that gives God His proper place and faith is the only thing that puts man in his proper place, and it proves that we have more confidence in God’s eyesight than we have in our own.
As the great Irish Preacher and Writer, C.H. Mackintosh once put it: Faith not only believes that God exists, but it also trusts Him to reward those who seek after Him. There is nothing about God that makes it impossible for men to believe. The difficulty is with the human will, because after all is said and done, the words: I can’t, actually mean: I won’t.
When it comes to faith, the story of Noah and the Ark always springs to mind. Can you imagine receiving instructions from Almighty God Himself to build an Ark, giving you details of what wood to use and the exact dimensions of the vessel?
|
Genesis 6:22 |
|
|
Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. KJV |
Noah did everything just as God commanded him. NIV |
From this we can be positive that Noah trusted God implicitly and did exactly what he was told to do. Noah believed and built an Ark! Can you imagine the reaction of the surrounding population? The jokes, the laughter and finger pointing would have been relentless. A day out with the family would be to pack a picnic lunch and go and sit and watch that crazy bloke building a boat where there was no water! And boy is he taking a long time! And it’s so big! Never mind, we’ve got the problem of what to do with the kids and our entertainment sorted for some time!
But we all know the outcome of the story: Noah’s faith was rewarded, he and his family were saved, and the world was condemned, reminding us that a tiny minority of believers were right, and the majority were wrong.
Which brings me to today, 23 January: God is patient, He is still waiting for you to turn to Him and believe in Him and for you to put your trust in Him. The vast majority of the world have turned their backs on The Saviour and they, like those in the days of Noah, will one day find that it is too late to enter into the Ark of Safety, because the door will be shut.
FAITH
Believes the Incredible.
Hears the Inaudible.
Sees the Invisible.
Perceives the Imperceptible.
Grasps the Intangible.
Accomplishes the Impossible.
Without faith it is impossible to please Him.
My prayer is that you will hear Jesus knocking on the door of your heart. That you open it, and welcome Him into your life, before it is too late.
