THE CREATOR AND THE CREATURE

A WORM – Speaks of His HUMILIATION

Psalm 22:6

I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men and despised of the people. KJV

But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people. NIV

  • Jesus was a reproach of men and despised of the people.
  • He came unto His own and they received Him not.
  • In His HUMILIATION His judgment was taken away.

Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, let us reason together,” saith the Lord: “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” KJV

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” NIV

  • The Scarlet Worm is a small insect, the female of which clings to a tree and feeds on it. She dies covering her eggs with her body for protection.
  • Scarlet or Crimson is a colour that was highly prized as a symbol of wealth and position, sadly though its brilliance symbolized Israel’s glaring sin against God.

THE LAMB – Speaks of His HUMILITY

John 1:29

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” KJV

The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” NIV

  • And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross.
  • He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb before his shearer, so opened He not His mouth.

THE LION – Speaks of His HONOUR, MIGHT and MAJESTY

Revelation 5:2,5

…Who is worthy to open the book?

And one of the elders saith unto me, “Weep not: behold the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” KJV

…Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?

Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” NIV

THE CONCLUSION

  • Have you noticed how beautiful the Word of God is?
  • From cover to cover, throughout the Scriptures, all points to the Saviour.
  • For Satan and men, the throne is a goal, both wanting to be on top.
  • For Christ, it was a destiny.
  • What they grasped for, He let go.
  • Jesus chose to come down so that we might go up.

All praise be to His Holy Name!
