THE OUTCOME

I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord.

2 Corinthians 6:16-18

  • On August 15th we spoke about THE OFFER.
  • On August 16th we spoke about THE ORDER.
  • Today we shall speak about THE OUTCOME.

But first let us summarise what the Scriptures tell us.

THE OFFER –

  • God offers Salvation to anyone who wants it.
  • He listens for a response to His invitation.
  • He helps those who respond.

THE ORDER –

  • God demands that we be separated from evil.
  • As Christians we are to cut all links with that which would cause us to sin or continue in sin.
  • We are forbidden to touch any unclean thing which would cause us to sin against God.
  • We are to come out and be separate.

THE OUTCOME –

SONSHIP

Verses 16, 17 and 18 of our Scripture reading makes it very plain what the outcome will be should we choose to obey God and separate ourselves from all that is unholy and evil in His sight. Note the words: I will

Verse 16 –

  1. I will dwell in them, and walk in them.
  2. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Verse 17 –

  1. I will receive you.

Verse 18 –

  1. I will be a Father unto you.

This is THE OUTCOME of obedience to God.

There is nothing in this world that measures up to what God can do, or even comes close to satisfying the needs of man-kind, who will run to and fro seeking happiness and fulfillment together with wealth and pleasure, and yet never find it. Although it is very hard for Believers to cut relations with lifestyles that have held them captive for so long in order to be obedient, God does supply an answer in that He says:

  • I will receive you.
  • I will be a Father to you.
  • You will be my sons and daughters!

I cannot think of anything this world has to offer that would better the promises of a Holy God. My prayer for you is that you will take God at His word and experience the joy of knowing Him in a very  personal way.
