COMMIT
Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Proverbs 16:3
This portion of Scripture is telling us that we are to commit or dedicate all our works to the Lord, not just some of what we are doing, or a portion of what we think He may be happy with, but everything we do.
Occasionally we find ourselves disturbed and depressed, even in trying to do the Lord’s work. Could anything be further from what God desires? God cannot work through anxious hearts. Whenever a Christian reaches this state, he should stop at once and ask himself whose work it is in the first place? If the answer is that it is God’s work, never forget that the burden of it is God’s too. What do we do if things go wrong? Go to Him! Anything less than this is disobedience.
(J. Allen Blair)Have you noticed what happens when we do indeed commit our works to the Lord?
….. our thoughts will be established.
What a wonderful promise!
Our thoughts, actions, words and deeds will be grounded and rooted in our Saviour and no-one else. Man’s ways are to judge himself and to pronounce himself as worthy, but God sees the motives and intentions of the heart.
Give me the eye which sees God and the hand which can serve Him in all, and the heart which can bless Him for all.
