FAITH

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. KJV

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. NIV

The ‘world’ boldly shouts:  Seeing is believing. But God says:  Believing is seeing. The Scriptures tell us that faith is not by sight, that we walk by faith, and those who say: “seeing is believing” will look in vain.

John 11:40

Jesus saith unto her, “Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldst believe, thou shouldest see the Glory of God?” KJV

Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” NIV

The Scriptures teach the opposite of what the world would have us believe, because in spiritual matters, faith precedes understanding. God tells us how it happened, because He was there! We believe His words; therefore we know. Faith provides the only factual account of creation.

Hebrews 11:3

The worlds were framed (formed) by the Word of God. KJV

The universe was formed at God’s Command. NIV

Even though these words of Scripture have been available for man to read for hundreds of years, he has only recently discovered that God’s Words are true, in that, matter is in actual fact energy. True to form man will not permit a ‘divine foot in the door’ of his ‘great’ discoveries. He has labelled this phenomenon in evolutionary terms, claiming, without a shred of evidence, that it all happened after a BIG BANG; that everything came into being after billions of years of random evolution, totally ignoring that it was God Himself who spoke, and the worlds were formed, and things that are seen are not made of things that are visible.

For those who have taken God at His Word it is important that we understand what FAITH is and what it does:  Faith will:

·       affect my thoughts.

·       affect my time.

·       affect my tongue. ·       affect my tastes.
·       affect my temper. ·       remove self-trust.
·       affect my testimony.

Without FAITH it is impossible to please Him.

·       Faith believes the incredible. ·       Faith sees the invisible.
·       Faith grasps the intangible. ·       Faith makes Giants out of little men, and the lack of it makes little men of giants.
·       Faith hears the inaudible.
·       Faith does the impossible.

Fear sees the obstacles, but FAITH sees the way.
Fear sees the long dark night, but FAITH sees the day.
Fear grovels in the dust, but FAITH flies on high.
Fear whimpers: “Who believes?” FAITH calls out: “I”

NOTE: Because FAITH does not make its appeal to the senses, it does not mean it is nonsense. And because FAITH does not make its appeal to reason, it does not mean that it is unreasonable. Absolute trust and obedience to God is what faith is all about. It is a relationship that we build up with God, it has a moral content and is NOT a power to be manipulated. Likewise, faith is not something we grab hold of and play around with. It is NOT: “I will move this mountain with my faith.” It is the building of faith and a relationship with God, because He moves mountains, not us. God is not tied into the laws of cause and effect.

Modern theology will have us believe that faith is a power we can harness and direct at God rather than trust and obedience and knowing God personally. Faith is something we have to learn, as is obedience to Him and Him alone, and unless we put our total trust in God and are obedient to Him, we will never learn what faith is all about.

We need to decide who we will trust and who we will put our faith in, because our future and our eternal destiny will depend on it.
