THE OFFER
I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of Salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of Salvation.
2 Corinthians 6:2
How often have people attended a church service where the Pastor has pleaded with the congregation to accept Christ, only to have most if not all leave the building without making a commitment. In our verse of Scripture Paul is reminding the Corinthians that Salvation is at hand and urging them not to put off accepting Jesus into their lives. He has already told them of the wonderful Grace that is offered by God and begs them not to receive it in vain. So many have the Gospel message given to them in one form or another and yet they allow the seed of the Good News to fall in barren soil, with ears that fail to listen, with minds that are self-absorbed with the things of life and eyes that fail to focus on the most wonderful message of hope.
-
The offer is Salvation and it is there for anyone who wants it.
-
It is there for anyone who is serious about following Jesus.
-
Note what God is saying in v2:
- At the acceptable time I listened to you.
- On the day of Salvation I helped you.
- Behold now is the acceptable time, behold now is the day of Salvation.
- God listened for a response to His invitation.
- God helped those who responded.
My prayer for you is that you will recognise your need of Salvation and that you will invite Jesus into your life before it is too late. Don’t put off making that decision, time is running out.
