THE YOUNG MAN AND THE PROFESSOR

A young man who was a bright student had just completed his 3rd year at university. As he headed confidently away from his studies, he saw one of his professors and greeted him.

Well, sir that is another year safely completed, and I am looking forward to that degree.

The professor asked,

And what will you do then?

Well sir, I intend completing my articles and then land a job with a top law firm.

And then what? Asked the professor.

Well, I aim to take on some difficult cases and win them, get known for my skills, and make a name for myself.

And what then?

Well, I hope to get married to a beautiful girl and have a lovely family, living in a beautiful home.

And what then?

Well, I guess some day I will get old and have to retire.

And what then?

Well, I suppose some day I will die.

And what then? came the professor’s words with force.
