If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. KJV |
Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink. NIV |
There was once a little boy walking in Boston in America and he saw for the first time a sign that read COMMON which was placed at the entrance of the great park known as BOSTON COMMON. He stood and looked at the sign for a few moments and then shouted joyfully:
It don’t say Keep Off the Grass! It says Come On!
Without knowing it this little boy had hit the nail on the head when it came to explaining the Gospel Message, because its message is not a message to Keep Off but an invitation to Come On.
There was once a man who was listening with interest to the great preacher D.L. Moody when he was explaining the message of the Gospel and he said to Mr Moody: One might think that the word Come was your pet word, well I have two; one is Come and the other is Go.
Mr Moody asked him to explain his meaning and he replied:
- Come for Cleansing and Acceptance.
- Go in Service and get others to Come.
The truth of the matter is that once you obey Christ and Come to Him you will never thirst (spiritually) again, and once you have drunk at the Fountain of Living Water, you cannot help but GO and tell others to COME and drink also.
May God help you to realise this wonderful truth and seek out those who do not know the Saviour, so that they too may drink of Him.
