WHAT ARE BELIEVERS TO DO?
TRUST
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33
These words of Scripture tell us the exact opposite of what the world would have us do, teaching as it does, that we are to:
-
Look after number one, because nobody else will.
-
Make your own way in life.
-
Don’t let anyone tell you what to do.
-
Define your own life.
-
Have faith in yourself.
-
Be master of your own destiny.
For the believer, following the world and its teachings is a recipe for disaster. Before we do anything we are told to:
Seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first and foremost. This means that we are to put God first in our lives and by doing so He will guarantee our future needs. It is not our interests that we put first, it is God’s interests.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Matthew 6:34
Here is God’s social security plan for all those who will obey His commandments. It is the believer’s responsibility to live for the Lord with confidence and to live one day at a time.
Tomorrow can worry about its own things!
